First Interstate Center for the Arts Renovation and Accessibility Improvements

May 1 - October 31, 2018

The First Interstate Center Renovation and Accessibility project is complete and includes a comprehensive package of building improvements to enhance accessibility, safety and guest experiences.. The project was completed using Progressive Design-build with the team of Lydig Construction and Integrus Architects. The total project budget was $22.3M, the bond sale was conducted on October 31, 2017 and fully funded on Nov 21, 2017.

The scope and timing of the improvements was determined by the District Board in late 2017. The project included work in both the public spaces and back of house. Improvements include a new hallway from the lobby to the Orchestra level, all new auditorium seats with additional wheelchair seating areas, updated lobby finishes and a major sculpture titled “Opening Act” that celebrates the performing arts. The Music Room will undergo a complete transformation to a space for pre and post events with the addition of an elevator and new beverage service locations. In the backstage area, improvements include a service elevator and fully renovated dressing rooms. All electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems have been updated, all boilers replaced and the entire curtain wall (window wall) and roof have been replaced.

The project was completed by the Lydig DB Team on time and under budget.
